The Digital Design Training is focused on teaching students the skills and techniques necessary to create effective designs for Digital Channels. Through this course, students will learn how to use Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, creative reporting, gathering and analyzing data, and how to use tools like A/B testing to optimize their designs. With a focus on digital media, this course will equip students with the skills necessary to succeed in the fast-paced world of online marketing.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Learn and understand the purpose of audience in design, research and how to create the relevant content for the purpose, while understanding the creative/design process and flow.

  • Learn how to communicate visually and understand the terminology related to digital design, color theory in digital images and basic design principles applied in the industry.

  • Learn the basics how to navigate and use Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop in digital design, the essential tools and their purposes.

  • Learn and further understand Adobe Illustrator as a vector graphics editor and design program platform with it’s tools to create clear and creative designs

  • Learn and further understand Adobe Photoshop a raster graphics editor platform and the tools of the software used for creating designs.

  • Learn and understand working with Layers in Adobe Photoshop to help navigate in the platform by creating layers, manipulating layers, the structure of the layers and how to keep track of them for efficient workflows.

  • Learn and understand how Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator can be used alongside each other to create design. Importing graphics from Adobe Illustrator to Adobe Photoshop, export graphics from Adobe Photoshop to Adobe Illustrator.

  • Learn and understand the hierarchical rules related to fonts and typography, enhance messages, reading patterns and utilize core tools and functionality for successful typography. Identifying and using common typographic adjustments to create contrast, hierarchy, and enhanced readability/legibility.

  • Learn the importance of colors in digital design, how to use and apply the color theory in digital design by modifying the appearance of design elements, use core tools and features to create visual elements.

  • Learn how to create eye-catching ads and publications to captivating images and developing a cohesive visual identity. Develop a digital brand identity that reflects your vision and can be applied to all professional aspects.

  • Learn how to manage colors and gradients, setting active center and background colors, creating and customizing gradients, and managing brushes, symbols, patterns, and format styles.

  • Learn and understand, the Acronyms & Terms used daily in Digital Marketing, Business Goals, and how campaign objectives play roles in designing for digital advertising.

  • Learn and understand the role of campaign objectives, ad placements such as messenger, feed and story format as well as automatics vs edit placement.

  • Learn and understand the role of creative reporting, metrics relevant to design, scale & efficiency metrics as well as A/B testing.

  • Learn and understand the purpose of Content Calendar, by identifying business goals, content pillars and the importance of planning ahead in organic content.

  • Learn and practice designing in-class content from your content calendars, designing with different campaign objective. This part will also include interactive session in class by reviewing each others designs.
